Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties: Thoughts from the Bookshelf
February 4 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Join Thoughts from the Bookshelf Facilitator Pat Goldstein and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota for a book club gathering. This month, we will discuss the novel, Necessary Trouble: Growing Up at Mid-Century, by Drew Gilpin Faust, a New York Times bestseller. The book focuses on a conservative Southern family with the contradictions of her privileged upbringing against the backdrop of racial segregation, evolving social norms, and becoming an activist for Civil Rights. In addition, we will discuss the novel, In the Mighty Red, by Pulitzer Prize winning author Louise Erdrich. The book tells the story of love, spiritual yearnings and the tragic impact of natural forces of ordinary people living on beet farms in North Dakota’s Red River Valley. The story encompasses the frayed bond with the earth and love in all its splendor and heartache. Attend in-person at the Margate Library Meeting Room, 8100 Atlantic Avenue, Margate. RSVP by January 31. Join Thoughts from the Bookshelf Facilitator Pat Goldstein and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota for a book club gathering.
