He walked a beat and then did 16 years in the Traffic Division as a Crash Investigator and received a certificate from Rutgers as a Police Traffic Engineer. When promoted to Sergeant, he stayed in Traffic. In addition, Merrill had the honor of being one of Frank Sinatra’s trusted security advisors in Atlantic City, and all over the world. He was one of three. He also did the same for Dean Martin, Don Rickles, and many others. He is a member of the Shomrim Society a national organization for Jewish members who are first responders (Police, Fire, EMT). Merrill is now retired and has lived in Ventnor since 1977.
